Embracing the Abstract
César Martiniano was born in the Azores (Angra do Heroísmo) in 1995. Participated in several ateliers of visual arts and painting, since he was a child. But afraid of giving a try to an art career he attended the Science and Technology course in high school. Doing art only as a hobby, in 2013 the opportunity arises to participate as a Young Creator at the Walk&Talk Festival 2013, in Ponta Delgada. Through this experience, he decides to give his life a more creative direction and in 2016 he ends up graduating in Graphic Design at ESAD (Caldas da Rainha). During this period he was also the curator of the collective exhibition “Cena das Latas”.
From late 2016 to late 2018, in addition to working as a graphic designer, he painted several murals on Terceira Island and a mural in Fort Wayne (Indiana, United States), also participating in various local art-related events such as Festival Azure, Walk&Talk, Azores Fringe Festival, More Jazz, Younger Angra, among others. At the end of 2018, he moves to Porto, entering the Master’s Degree in Graphic Design and Editorial Projects at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. In 2020 defends the master’s degree “Archipelago DADA: A humanist sans serif typeface for expressive visual compositions”.
Nowadays he is making the transition of working as a graphic designer and creative director in the Azores, to became a worldwide abstract artist, painting freely his abstract vision of the world.
